Jeni's Wedding

Jeni's Wedding

I got back late lastnite from the heartland of America - Kansas City, Missouri (pronounced Missour-ah) where I was at my good friend Jeni's wedding.

Friday
We all arrived Friday nite around the same time at Kansas City International (me, not paying attention, booked a crappy flight that routed through the Twin Cities (St. Paul and Minneapolis), so Chino Loco arrived the same time as I did from NYC but left 3 hours later.

Samir had booked us a limo to take us to the hotel overlooking the Plaza at Brush Creek where we quickly got dolled up, had a quick drink in the hotel bar, and then headed to the rehearsal dinner at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art. A beautiful affair, in a great space, we toasted the couple, caught up and mingled before heading out clubbing for a few hours.

Saturday
The boys congregated early in the Plaza to post-game over a greasy midwestern breakfast before returning to the hotel to prep for the ceremony.

The wedding was long for a straight-up Catholic do, due to the bonus Indian elements, and the midwestern value for religious rigour. But it was sweet and beautifully orchestrated, and a light modern square church.

The chaps ajourned to a local sports bar for several hours of "serious" talk before the mayhem of the reception began.

The reception was simple, to the point, yet abundant in content and indulgence. Jeni made sure all classic PGuy tracks (Jay-Z/Linkin Park, Roxette, BSB) were peppered in between the threepeating of Punjabi MC. Chemises were dropped, tears were shed and a great time was had by all as we celebrated Shaun and Jeni's nuptials.

Sunday
Most were nursing hangovers on Sunday, but go to burn them away with beers under the sun at the ballpark watching the Royals game while I schlepped back to KCI to get my flight back to New York via the Twin Cities.

A great reunion weekend and a beautiful wedding for a girl who is one of my best friends and like a sister to me. I wish Shaun and Jeni much love and thank them and their families for letting me share in the big day.
